The homes at Canyons Estates are semi-custom so spaces with an extra bit of oomph come in a wide variety. Spectacular spaces in the community’s homes are different for each homeowner because owners can design and add their own creativity. For instance, one family added a wall between the family and dining areas. Another added outside space for their RV. And a third used the practice of Feng Shui to design their space.

Min and Jonathan Jiang had a Feng Shui master visit the home site where they were building their Distinctive home and customized the home to ensure that it was built the most advantageously for them in terms of Feng Shui. The results meant the home had to be repositioned on the lot. “We chose Distinctive Homes because they could move the house on the lot for us so we are facing the optimal direction and we could make changes in the design as we wished,” explained homeowner Jonathan Jiang.

The Feng Shui master also suggested another space — rather than the one in the plan — be used for the master bedroom, so the Jiangs added another room. “When the Feng Shui master said we couldn’t use the original bedroom in the middle of the house, we had the space and were able to build the new bedroom by using open space, then we closed that up and added a patio. It is beautiful,” explained Jonathan Jiang of his family’s Mediterranean Villa plan. “The master bedroom is our retreat. It is larger than the original plan and we located it in the back, rather than the middle of the house. We use the original master area for guests.”

The Jiangs also took the option of a second — or wok — kitchen that vents directly outside as well as adding an optional closet as large as a small bedroom.

The Mediterranean style homes at Canyons Estates range in size from 2,931 to 4,658 square feet and start at $401,990.
